Jordan Miller and Isaiah Wong picked in the 2nd round of the NBA draft

Jordan Miller and Isaiah Wong, both players from the University of Miami men's basketball team, were selected in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft. Miller, a fifth-year senior guard, was chosen as the 48th overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers, while Wong, a fourth-year junior guard, was selected as the 55th overall pick by the Indiana Pacers.

This marks the fourth time in the program's history that multiple players from the University of Miami were drafted in the same NBA Draft, following the years 1968, 1970, and 2018. Miller and Wong now join the ranks of the 24th and 25th players from the university to be drafted into the NBA. They are the first players to achieve this since Dewan Hernandez was chosen by the Toronto Raptors as the 59th pick in 2019.

In recent years, the University of Miami has had at least one player selected in four out of the past seven NBA Drafts, with a total of six Hurricanes players chosen during that period. Alongside Miller and Wong, other drafted players include Dewan Hernandez (2019), Davon Reed (No. 32 in 2017), Lonnie Walker IV (No. 18 in 2018), and Bruce Brown Jr. (No. 42 in 2018).

Jordan Miller, originally from Middleburg, Virginia, transferred to Miami after spending three seasons at George Mason. In the 2022-23 season, he received several accolades, including Second Team All-ACC, NABC Second Team All-District 2, ACC All-Tournament Second Team, and NCAA Midwest All-Region Team honors.

During the recent season, Miller had impressive statistics, averaging 15.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He played the most minutes on his team, averaging 35.0 minutes per game. Miller's shooting percentages were solid, with 54.5 percent from the field, 35.0 percent from beyond the arc, and 78.4 percent from the free-throw line. His contributions were instrumental in the University of Miami's most successful season to date, as they achieved a record of 29-8 (15-5 ACC), won a share of the ACC regular season title, and made their first appearance in the Final Four.

Over the course of his five-year college career, Miller maintained consistent performance, averaging 12.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game in 32.4 minutes of play. He showcased his efficiency by shooting 51.5 percent from the field. In total, Miller scored an impressive 1,824 points during his collegiate tenure.
